ATP Stars Tomas Berdych, Richard Gasquet and Jack Sock to Compete at 2016 Tennis Classic at Hurlingham

LONDON (April 27, 2016) - IMG today announced that Tomáš Berdych, Richard Gasquet and Jack Sock have been added to the player field at the 2016 edition of the Tennis Classic at Hurlingham, taking place at The Hurlingham Club in London from June 21-24, 2016.  Grand Slam finalists Greg Rusedski, Mark Philippoussis and Thomas Enqvist, as well as Fabrice Santoro and Mansour Bahrami, have already committed to playing in the event.

A member of the ATP’s Top 10 for the last 6 seasons, Berdych will be making his ninth and fourth consecutive appearance at Hurlingham. The 30-year-old from the Czech Republic is the 2010 Wimbledon finalist and has reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slams.  He is the winner of 12 ATP World Tour titles and enjoyed his highest career ranking of World No. 4 in May 2015.

France’s Richard Gasquet will compete at Hurlingham for the third time.  A British fan-favourite, Gasquet has made two Wimbledon semifinal appearances, in 2007 and 2015.

American rising star Jack Sock will make his first appearance at the Tennis Classic at Hurlingham.  He is coming off a career season, having won his inaugural ATP title in Houston and reached the fourth round of Roland Garros in 2015.

"We are excited to welcome Tomáš and Richard back to the Tennis Classic at Hurlingham as they’ve made the event a part of their annual Wimbledon preparations and the crowd will enjoy watching them play yet again.  It’s great to add Jack Sock to our world-class player line up as he is an exciting young talent.  We hope our guests enjoy another year of unforgettable tennis coupled with the best in London’s hospitality,’’ said Tournament Chairman Jan Felgate.

2016 will mark the 23rd staging of the event which over the years has become one of the world’s most star-studded tennis exhibitions, tying together premier hospitality with a stellar player line-up that has boasted tennis’ biggest stars of the past, present and future.  Over the years, some of the sport’s best players have competed at the event, including Grand Slam champions Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, Marin Cilic, as well as Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, David Ferrer, and rising stars Grigor Dimitrov and Nick Kyrgios. The Tennis Classic at Hurlingham will announce further additions to the player line up, including current ATP stars, over the next few weeks.

Owned and managed by IMG, the Tennis Classic at Hurlingham takes place at the height of the tennis season, the week prior to Wimbledon.  Set in the tranquil 42-acre grounds of The Hurlingham Club, it’s become one of the most intimate tennis events in the social calendar, showcasing some of the current stars of today, playing in a series of singles exhibition matches as they finalise their preparations ahead of Wimbledon, as well as a number of tennis legends. In addition to Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal, such legends of the sport as Tim Henman, Pat Cash and Goran Ivanisevic have participated in the event.
